The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, paid a personal visit to the grand agricultural exhibition held at the Oddusuddan Agricultural Training Center on Tuesday evening, 27 January 2026. The exhibition was organized by the Northern Provincial Ministry of Agriculture and coordinated by the Mullaitivu Deputy Provincial Director of Agriculture.
The exhibition, organized under the timely theme “Towards Sustainable Agriculture in the Face of Climate Challenges,” commenced on Monday (26 January 2026) and concluded today.
During his visit to the exhibition, the Governor was briefed by officials of the Department of Agriculture on the various pavilions. In particular, the following were showcased:
• Rice cultivation methods adaptable to climate change
• Modern beekeeping and mushroom cultivation techniques
• Organic fertilizer production for non-toxic food
• Integrated farming and animal husbandry systems
• Indigenous medicinal plant cultivation methods
Detailed explanations, demonstrations, and models related to these areas were on display. The Governor viewed them with keen interest and engaged in discussions with the officials.
A large number of school students, farmers, and members of the general public visited the exhibition. It played an important role in raising awareness among the younger generation about modern agricultural technologies and innovative approaches.
