The Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who was on an official visit to the Kilinochchi District, visited the historically renowned Puliyampokkanai Nagathambiran Temple today – on Sunday 21 December 2025, and participated in special religious observances.
After taking part in several development- and public welfare–related programmes held in Kilinochchi from early this morning, the Prime Minister visited this historic temple as part of her schedule.
Upon her arrival at the temple, the Prime Minister was warmly received by the temple administration and members of the public. She then participated devoutly in the special poojas conducted at the temple. Following the religious observances, the Prime Minister listened with great interest as she was briefed on the ancient history, legends, and distinctive features of this venerable temple.
Accompanying the Prime Minister at the event were the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan; the Hon. Deputy Minister of Cooperative Development, Upali Samarasinghe; the Hon. Member of Parliament, K. Ilankumaran; and the Kilinochchi District Secretary, S. Muralitharan.
