The Secretary to the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province has requested registered chambers of commerce to nominate representatives for the establishment of the Northern Province Chambers of Commerce and Industry Network.
Following consultative meetings held with representatives of chambers of commerce and industry in the Northern Province on November 14 and December 4, a unanimous decision was taken to establish the “Northern Province Chambers of Commerce and Industry Network.”
In accordance with this decision, the Secretary to the Governor of Northern Province, Mr. S. Sathiyaseelan, has issued a notice calling for nominations of representatives from registered chambers of commerce.
The announcement issued by the Secretary to the Governor in this regard states as follows:
This newly established network will function as a unified platform to promote the collective interests of the business community of our province and to further strengthen cooperation between chambers of commerce and the provincial administration.
As the next step following the official establishment of this network, an election will be conducted to select its initial office-bearers. Accordingly, office-bearers will be elected to the following four key positions:
Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Candidates for these positions will be elected through a democratic voting process.
Each chamber of commerce in the Northern Province that is registered under the Registrar of Companies is requested to nominate two (02) representatives from among its members to participate in the election process. The nominated representatives must be members in good-will of their respective chambers.
Accordingly, chambers are requested to forward the names and contact details of the nominated representatives, duly certified by an authorized officer of the chamber, to the Governor’s Secretariat on or before Friday – 19 December 2025.
The establishment of this network will serve as an important milestone in enabling the business community of the Northern Province to speak with one voice and collectively address common challenges. Therefore, the Secretary to the Governor has requested all chambers to actively participate in this initiative and nominate suitable representatives.
