A discussion took place this morning – on Wednesday, 29th October 2025 at the Governor’s Secretariat between the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, and the management director of TAATAS Company, including the inventor, Mr. Victor.
During this discussion, the Governor was informed about a newly discovered wine made from palmyra fruit. The inventor, Mr. Victor, explained that due to the easy availability of raw materials and the low production cost, there is a high demand for this product in the global market. He also elaborated on how this innovation could bring significant changes to the export economy. Furthermore, he pointed out that although there are opportunities to earn millions of rupees, these have not been properly utilized so far.
The Governor was also briefed on the expansion of this industrial venture, the employment opportunities it would generate through future projects, and the environmentally friendly nature of the production process.
Welcoming such initiatives as timely and progressive, the Hon. Governor assured that cooperation and support would be extended through the Provincial Council.
