The Management Club (TMC) – Sri Lanka has announced plans to host the Northern Province Investors’ Conference in January next year, with the collaboration and support of relevant government departments. The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, has called upon all authorities to extend their fullest support to ensure the success of this significant event.
A discussion with The Management Club (TMC) was held at the Governor’s Secretariat on Friday evening – 24th October 2025, chaired by the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, District Secretaries from all districts in the Northern Province, and Divisional Secretaries.
Speaking at the outset of the discussion, the Hon. Governor noted that the investment climate has become highly favorable under the current government and emphasized the importance of making the most of this opportunity. In this context, The Management Club has taken the initiative to organize an Investors’ Conference for the North, which is scheduled to be held on the 21st and 22nd of January at the Thiruvalluvar Cultural Hall in Jaffna.
The conference is being organized with the support of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, the Export Development Board, the National Exporters Council, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
By providing the necessary information and extending full cooperation regarding investment opportunities from each district of the Northern Province for this conference, we can pave the way for the region’s development. At present, our province contributes only 4.2 percent to the national gross domestic product, and this figure should be increased to at least 10 percent. To achieve this goal, initiatives such as investor conferences are essential, as they help attract new investors to our province.
“Government officials must extend their full cooperation to investors when they arrive. At the same time, the public should not oppose investments, but rather engage constructively to ensure that our communities benefit from them,” the Governor stated.
The Chief Secretary of the Northern Province, the Secretary to the Governor, the Deputy Chief Secretary – Planning, as well as the District Secretaries and Divisional Secretaries of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar, and Mullaitivu districts participated in the discussion.
