A progress review meeting on the development of the Jaffna Public Library, for which Rs. 100 million has been allocated, was held under the chairmanship of the Honorable Governor.
An allocation of Rs. 100 million for the development of the Jaffna Public Library was made in the last budget by His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. In this context, a progress review meeting on the project was held under the chairmanship of the Honorable Governor of the Northern Province, Mr. N. Vethanayahan.
The Governor instructed the Commissioner of the Jaffna Municipal Council to conduct project progress reviews once every two weeks and to appoint a post-ranking officer to be responsible for these.
The discussion was attended by Mr. A. Sothinathan, Secretary Ministry of Local Government Northern Province; Mr. R. Guruparan, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry; Mr. S. Pranavanathan, Deputy Chief Secretary – Personnel and Training of the Northern Province; Mrs. Thevanandini Babu, Commissioner of Local Government- Northern Province the Chief Librarian of the Jaffna Public Library; engineers from the Central Buildings Department and the Municipal Council; and representatives from the Library Institute.
