A department’s success is largely determined by the willingness of people to approach and engage with it.

There is a growing trend of people turning to indigenous medicine with increasing interest, largely due to concerns about the side effects of other forms of treatment. The Honorable Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, emphasized that this shift should be properly harnessed and utilized

The new building of the Kilinochchi Central Siddha Dispensary was officially inaugurated today, Friday (11 July 2025), by the Governor of the Northern Province, near the Kilinochchi Central Bus Stand.

The event was held under the chairmanship of Dr. T. Sarvanandan, Commissioner of the Northern Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine. The Governor of the Northern Province attended as the Chief Guest, with Mrs. Thanuja Murugesan, Chief Secretary of the Northern Province, serving as the Special Guest. Mrs. P. Jayarani, Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Indigenous Medicine, and Child Welfare Services, and Mr. S. Muralitharan, Kilinochchi District Secretary, participated as Guests of Honour..

In his speech, the Governor stated that well-equipped departments with adequate physical resources are better positioned to deliver essential services to the public. Reflecting on the period from 1991 to 2010, when he joined the government service during a time of war, he noted that despite limited physical resources, they were still able to provide satisfactory services to the people
The hospitals under our health department have been provided with large buildings and modern equipment. However, many of them remain non-functional due to a shortage of human resources.
Infrastructure alone is not sufficient. Even when physical resources are in place, people will only be drawn to these facilities if they offer high-quality and dependable services. The success of these departments ultimately depends on the extent to which the public utilizes them.
We will be encouraged to extend further support only when these departments demonstrate a commitment to excellence in service delivery. Therefore, our focus should be on providing outstanding service to the people.
Moreover, since the Siddha Pharmacy is located in the heart of the city, it has even greater potential to attract the public. This makes it even more important to prioritize quality and accessibility in our services.

It is noteworthy that the Governor of the Northern Province also took part in the initiative by planting saplings around the campus.
