Opening ceremony of the Dairy Plant re-starting program was undertaken at Marakkarampalai,Vavuniya on 15th of July 2021 at 3 pm.
The Honourable Governor of the Northern Province Mrs.P.S.M.Charles graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest and declared open the Dairy Plant. While commenting on the ceremony, Hon. Governor expressed her happiness of restarting the Dairy Plant with firm support and pointed out that this would afford employments for vulnerable people and marketing aids for farmers.
Further, Hon. Governor mentioned that Joint Cabinet paper which had been submitted by Hon. Minister Douglas Devananda and Hon. Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage for obtaining pasture lands for the Northern province was approved by the Cabinet Ministry for the first time in Sri Lanka and this would boost the cattle farming in Northern Province.
Vavuniya District Government Agent, Divisional Secretariat, Deputy Inspector of Police – Vanni District, Vavuniya Urban Council & Pradeshiya Sabha Members and well wishers were also at the ceremony.
