A private bus conductor has been issued an 8 days work suspension based on two separate allegations, including misbehaving with passengers, according to Eng. S. Vimaleswaran, Chairman of the Northern Province Road Passenger Transport Authority.
On 07th March 2026, during a sudden inspection by the Authority’s officers on a bus, the conductor insulted the officials who requested his conductor’s license to issue a charge sheet. Additionally, investigations confirmed that he had spoken in a derogatory manner during a service that commenced from Paranthan on the morning of 26 March 2026.
Based on this, the individual was identified as having committed a breach of personal discipline and as being unfit to serve as a conductor or driver in the Northern Province Road Passenger Transport Authority. Consequently, an 8 days continuous work suspension has been imposed on him, preventing him from performing duties on any passenger bus in the Northern Province. If this suspension is violated, strict legal action will be taken against both the conductor and the bus owner who engages him in service.
The Northern Province Road Passenger Transport Authority has previously taken strict action against such disciplinary violations and regulatory breaches and has informed the public. The Chairman announced that if the public encounters any inconvenience during public transport or observes any derogatory behaviour by conductors or drivers, they can immediately report such incidents with supporting evidence (photographs or videos) via WhatsApp to 071 9090900.
