His Excellency the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that, the Vadduvagal Bridge, the most important bridge in Mullaitivu District, will be developed within two years.
The inauguration ceremony for the development of the Vadduvagal Bridge, which has been a long-standing request of the people of Mullaitivu District, was held today, Tuesday (02.09.2025), at Vattuvagal.
The bridge, to be constructed at a cost of 1.4 billion rupees, will function as a two-lane passage. Hon. Minister of Transport, Highways and Ports Bimal Ratnayake stated that the development work of the bridge will commence from tomorrow.
The stage events were held after the unveiling of the nameplate for the renovation by His Excellency the President.
Chairman of the Road Development Authority, Vanni District Member of Parliament K. Thilakanathan, and Hon. Ministers R. Chandrasekar and Bimal Ratnayake delivered speeches. Finally, His Excellency the President addressed the gathering.
This event was also attended by Hon. Governor of Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, Deputy Minister Upali Samarasinghe, Members of Parliament K. Ilankumaran, M. Jegatheeswaran, T. Ravikaran, chairmen of Local Authorities, the Chief Secretary of the Northern Province, the District Secretary of Mullaitivu and Heads of Departments.
