The milk collected in the Northern Province will be stopped from being sent to other provinces and the focus will be on promoting milk production in the North itself.

While the 14,000 liters of cow’s milk collected daily from the districts in the Northern Province is being transported to other provinces, the Northern Province Governor’s Office has started a project to use cow’s milk for milk-related products in the North.
This decision has been taken in a special meeting at the Governor’s Office of Northern Province led by Governor Hon PSM Charles, Indian High Commissioner, Jaffna Hon Sri Rakesh Natraj and government officials and leaders of agriculture, animal husbandry and rural industries in the North.
Also, the High Commissioner of India Hon Sri Rakesh Natraj said that he will provide full cooperation to protect the milk collected in the northern region and provide technical assistance for the production of milk-related products in the north.
The Governor of Northern Province told the officials that most of the people in the Northern Region are raising cows and goats for their daily life and there is an opportunity to further improve the economy of the people of the Northern Region through this way of life.
