In response to objections raised regarding the establishment of a waste sorting centre by the Nallur Pradeshiya Sabha in the Ariyalai, Karaimunangu area, a petition was submitted to the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vedanayahan. On the morning of Friday, 17th October 2025, the Governor personally visited and inspected the site.
The Secretary of the Nallur Pradeshiya Sabha briefed the Governor on the ongoing waste sorting activities and the future plans for the site. It was noted that 17 individuals from the area are currently engaged in the waste sorting process, and the Governor held discussions with them as well.
The inspection visit was attended by the Governor’s Secretary, the Grama Niladhari of the area, the Economic Development Officer, and other officials.
