The Honorable Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, appointed five Secretaries, the Municipal Council Commissioner, and the Acting Commissioner at the Governor’s Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon, July 16, 2025.
S. Sathiyaseelan, formerly the Divisional Secretary of Point Pedro, has been newly absorbed into the Northern Provincial Council and appointed as Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province.
M. Nandagopalan, who previously served as Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, has been appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Rehabilitation, Social Services, Cooperatives, Food Supply and Distribution, Industries, Enterprise Promotion, and Trade and Commerce.
S. Sivasri, who previously served as the Divisional Secretary of Kopay, has been newly absorbed into the Northern Provincial Council and appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Services, Animal Husbandry, Irrigation, Fisheries, Water Supply, and Environment.
A. Sothinathan, who previously served as the Acting Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Law and Order, Lands, Electricity, Housing and Construction, Tourism, Local Government, Provincial Administration, Rural Development, Road Development, Motor Traffic, and Transport, has been appointed Secretary to the same Ministry. He has also been appointed as the Acting Commissioner of Provincial Land Department.
A. Siri, who previously served as Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Services, Animal Husbandry, Irrigation, Fisheries, Water Supply, and Environment, has been appointed Secretary to the Provincial Public Service Commission, filling a position that was previously vacant.
P. Vageshan, who previously served as Secretary to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Rehabilitation, Social Services, Cooperatives, Food Supply and Distribution, Industries, Enterprise Promotion, and Trade and Commerce, has been appointed Commissioner of the Vavuniya Municipal Council.
The Chief Secretary of the Northern Province, Mrs. Thanuja Murugesan, was also in attendance at the event.
