On 21 August 2023, the Northern Province Tourism Bureau held a discussion with the Governor of the Northern Province, P S M.Charles, regarding the provision of services to the passengers on the Cordelia cruise ship that will be arriving and departing from Chennai to Kankesanthurai every Friday from 16th June, 2023. Deputy Ambassador of India, Jaffna, Northern Province Tourism Bureau officials, Northern Province Port Authority Chairman, Jaffna District Land Commissioner, Thellipalai Divisional Secretary, Valikamam North Divisional Secretary, Northern Province Navy Officer, Police Officer, Jaffna District Private Local Transport Association President participated in this discussion.
This cruise departs from Chennai every Monday and stops at Ambandottai and Trincomalee ports and arrives at Kankesanthurai port on Friday and returns to Chennai on the same day.
In this discussion, the Northern Province Tourism Bureau pointed out that the facilities for the tourists arriving and departing every Friday are not provided here. After that, the Governor held a discussion with the officers and officials regarding the mechanisms for providing basic facilities for passengers, vehicle regulations for local trips and tourist guidance regulations.
