The centenary events commemorating the ascetic life of the great Tamil scholar Swami Vipulananda were jointly organized today, Saturday (19.07.2025), in Manipay — marking his 78th Maha Samadhi Day. The Ministry of Buddhism and Religious Affairs, the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Jaffna District Secretariat, the Jaffna Divisional Secretariat, the All Ceylon Hindu Congress, and the Jaffna Tamil Sangam collaborated in organizing the celebrations.
Worship services were held at the Maruthadi Vinayagar Temple in Manipay on Saturday morning, marking the beginning of the centenary celebrations of Swami Vipulananda’s asceticism. Following the rituals, guests proceeded to Manipay Hindu College, where a vibrant art and cultural parade was conducted.
The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Speaker Jagath Wickramarathne, Northern Province Governor Hon. N. Vethanayahan, Members of Parliament Hon. S. SriBavanandharaja and Hon. J. Rajeevan, along with the Chairman and members of the Manipay Pradeshiya Sabha. Also in attendance were the Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, the Jaffna District Secretary, the Jaffna Divisional Secretary, the Commissioner of the Jaffna Municipal Council, and several other dignitaries.
