The annual inter-zonal teacher transfer lists for 2026 in the Northern Province will be published on the website of the Ministry of Education.

The Provincial Director of Education of Northern Province, Y. Jeyachandran, has stated that the revised lists related to the 2026 annual inter-zonal teacher transfers will be released in three stages on the Provincial Ministry of Education of Northern Province website starting tomorrow, Tuesday (24 February 2026).

The deficiencies observed in the annual transfer list published in October 2025 under the category “based on service requirements” have been rectified, and a new list will be issued.

The appeal procedures have been fully completed through the Appeals Board, which included teacher trade unions. In addition, a revised new list based on service requirements (excluding teacher trade unions) has also been prepared.

Accordingly, the revised transfer list based on service requirements will be published on the website in three stages:- tomorrow (24th), on the 25th, and on the 27th.

Furthermore, transfer letters for teachers transferred based on service requirements will be issued on March 5, while transfer letters for teachers who applied and were selected under the annual transfer scheme will be issued on March 15, Y. Jeyachandran further stated.

Meanwhile, with regard to transfer requests for 2026, a total of 368 teacher transfers have been approved: 227 applications through the Transfer Board, 90 applications through the Appeals Board, and 51 applications from the waiting list.

He also clarified that teachers who are dissatisfied with transfers granted based on service requirements may appeal the decision to the Public Service Commission in accordance with Chapter XX of the Procedural Rules of the Public Service Commission.
