The annual competition for honoring the local handicraft artisans in National Level organized by the Department of Industries, Northern Province in association with the National Crafts Council was held on 23rd October 2021 at J/Kanagaratnam Central Maha Vidyalayam in accordance with the health guidelines.
The competition was held with the participation of the Provincial Director, Chairman, Director of the National Crafts Council, members of the competition jury and departmental staff.
1700 handicraft works were submitted by artisans in the Northern Province. A total of 261 handicrafts works were selected with 23 first places, 24 second places, 25 third places and 189 talent prizes in the competition.
Also, 72 hand works which won first, second and third places in the provincial level competition were submitted to the National Level Competition ‘Silpa Abhimani’ Presidential Award Handicraft Competition and a total of 27 hand works were selected for our province with 5 first places, 01 second place, 02 third places and 19 talent prizes.
Awards, certificates and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners at the provincial and national levels.
