In the current era, where our society is grappling with various diseases, breast cancer has emerged as a significant health concern among women. Recognizing the urgency of early detection and timely treatment, a comprehensive awareness programme was organized by the Regional Director of health Services, Kilinochchi, under the auspices of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Northern Province to commemorate Pink October month.
The programme, led by Ms. Rajamalligai Sivasuntharasarma, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, was held on October 29, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This event was specifically designed for 75 female government employees in the Northern Province, including pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Ms. Josephine Thirumagal Sivashankar served as the Resource Person for the programme, which was attended by the Deputy Regional Director of Health Services of Kilinochchi, medical professionals, and ministry officials. Notably, female government employees from various offices across the Northern Province participated in the event through the Zoom platform.
The primary objective of this programme was to emphasize the significance of early breast cancer detection and its impact on treatment outcomes. By raising awareness among women, the organizers aimed to encourage regular self-examinations and prompt medical consultations.
