In view of Christmas and the New Year, the inauguration ceremony of the electrical lighting decorations of the Jaffna Clock Tower, organized by the Dan Television Network, was held last night – on Tuesday, 23 December 2025. The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, Nagalingam Vethanayahan, attended the event as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the lighting decorations.
At the outset of the event, the Hon. Governor lit a memorial flame in tribute to those who lost their lives in the recent natural disaster in the country. Subsequently, he illuminated the decorative lights of the Clock Tower, marking the formal commencement of the ceremony.
In addition, as part of the event, the Dan Television Network distributed learning materials to schoolchildren in the Jaffna District who were affected by the floods.
The event was attended by Hon. Member of Parliament K. Ilankumaran, Jaffna District Secretary M. Piiratheepan, and the Hon. Mayor of the Jaffna Municipal Council, Mrs. V. Mathivathani.
