Mrs. Thanuja Murugeson officially assumed duties as the Chief Secretary of Northern Provincial Council on the 27th of May 2025 at the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat, located within the Northern Provincial Council Complex. Her appointment was made by His Excellency the President.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Northern Provincial Council, District Secretaries of District Secretariats of Mannar and Jaffna, the Chairman of the Provincial Public Service Commission, Secretaries to the Provincial Ministries, Deputy Chief Secretaries, Heads of Departments, officers from various offices within the Council Complex, and well-wishers, who extended a traditional welcome to the new Chief Secretary.
The new Chief Secretary formally commenced her duties by signing official documents at the auspicious time of 10:22 a.m., following a religious observance.
During the occasion, the Chairman of the Northern Provincial Council, the Chairman of the Provincial Public Service Commission, Secretaries to the Ministries, and Deputy Chief Secretaries extended their best wishes to the newly appointed Chief Secretary.
In her speech, Mrs.Thanuja Murugeson expressed her gratitude to all those who conveyed their wishes. She called upon all officers to work efficiently, with dedication and integrity, emphasizing the importance of anti-corruption efforts to support the development of the Northern Province in line with government policy.
