“I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear the untimely demise of Former Minister Hon. Mangala Samaraweera.
A visionary and a true patriot, his steadfast commitment towards a united and a peaceful Sri Lanka was admirable. I am certain that his legacy will continue to be a guiding light for many future generations in their journey towards creating a society which is no longer divided by race or religion, but united as sons and daughters of mother Lanka.
It was truly a memorable experience for me to work as a Director General of Sri Lanka Customs, under his leadership as the Minister of Finance. His uncompromising commitment towards supporting the various industries through trade facilitation was a glowing example on effective public and private sector collaboration. Whenever I approached him regarding any work-related challenge, he was a great listener and was never short of advice”.
His untimely demise will be a great loss to Sri Lanka and its people.
