Mrs. Sivachelvan Sivaranjini has been appointed as the (Acting) Commissioner of the Vavuniya Municipal Council by the Honorable Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayagan.
At a ceremony held this morning – on Thursday, 19 February 2026, at the Governor’s Secretariat, the Governor officially handed over the letter of appointment. The appointment has been made effective from today.
Mrs. Sivachelvan Sivaranjini, who is to assume duties as the Commissioner of the Vavuniya Municipal Council, previously served as the Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Labour in the Vavuniya District.
The Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, S. Sathiyaseelan and the Secretary to the Ministry of Local Government of the Northern Province, A. Sothinathan, were also present at this event.
