Governor of Central Bank of Sri Lanka Deshamanya Pro.W.D.Lakshman met Hon. Governor of Northern Province Mrs. P.S.M.Charles at her office in Jaffna on 07th September 2020.
Their discussion focused on issues faced by the community, particularly those relating to micro-financing. Mrs. Charles requested Central Bank’s assistance in developing a proper plan with a mechanism for monitoring the process of mobilizing funds to the people at the grass-root level and accessing markets for their production. Both agreed to work closely to uplift the community in the Northern province.
The Governor of Northern Province also emphasized that the banks should expand their branches further to make it more accessible to the people.
Secretary to the Governor Mrs. S.Mehanathan, high ranking officials from Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Assistant Secretary to the Governor also attended this meeting.
