Governor chairs Progress Review Meeting on Women’s Affairs Ministry Projects

A monthly discussion to review the financial and physical progress of the projects implemented this year under the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Rehabilitation, Social Service, Cooperatives, Food Supply and Distribution, Industries and Enterprise Promotion and Trade & Commerce was held at the Governor’s Secretariat today, Wednesday (23.07.2025) under the chairmanship of the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan.

The progress of the projects of each department; the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Department of Social Services, Department of Industries, Department of Cooperative Development, and Cooperative Employees Commission, was discussed in detail.

The Governor requested that additional funds be allocated to the Palmyrah and Coconut Resources Cooperative Development Societies under the Department of Cooperative Development as they are engaged in income-generating activities.

Furthermore, the Governor emphasized that development is meaningless if it does not improve people’s livelihoods and advised that all plans should be formulated with the well-being of the people.

The discussion was attended by the Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, S. Sathiyaseelan, Secretary to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, M. Nanthagopalan, Deputy Chief Secretary – Finance, Deputy Chief Secretary – Planning, Deputy Chief Secretary – Engineering Services, Director of the Department of Social Services, Ms. Ahalya Segarajah, Director of the Department of Industries, Mrs. S. Vanajaa, Commissioner of the Department of Cooperative Development, N. Thirulinganathan, Provincial Director of the Department of Buildings, Secretary of Cooperative Employees Commission Mrs. B.Abhirami, and Assistant Commissioners of Cooperative Development of each district.
