The Northern Provincial Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Rehabilitation, Social Services, Co-operatives, Food Supply and Distribution, Industries and Enterprises Promotion and Trade and Commerce annually provides immediate emergency relief packs to pregnant women, women affected by gender-based violence, and vulnerable pregnant women through the Women’s Development Officers of the Divisional Secretariats as and when necessary.
In line with this, the packs procured and prepared for the upcoming period, based on the requests of the District Secretaries, were handed over to the respective District Secretariats of Mannar, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, and Kilinochchi in the Northern Province on 09.12.2025 and 10.12.2025. The handover was led by the Ministry’s Assistant Secretary, Mr. M. Murali.
- Mannar District: Emergency packs with a total value of 978,123.00 for 100 beneficiaries were handed over to the Mannar District Secretary, Mr. M. Kanakeswaran.
- Kilinochchi District: Emergency packs with a total value of 1,155,039.90 for 115 beneficiaries were handed over to the Kilinochchi District Secretary, Mr. S. Muralitharan.
- Mullaitivu District: Emergency packs with a total value of 1,151,851.70 for 120 beneficiaries were handed over to the Mullaitivu District Secretary, Mr. A. Umamaheswaran.
- Vavuniya District: Emergency packs with a total value of 1,011,892.10 for 100 beneficiaries were handed over to the District Women’s Development Officer of the Vavuniya District Secretariat.
