Hon. Governor of the Northern Province N. Vedanayahan, has announced that any teacher who believes they have been affected by the teacher transfer list for the year 2026—prepared based on service requirements and student welfare in the Northern Province—may submit an appeal. Although the deadline for submitting appeals was originally set for the 22nd of October, it has now been extended until the 27th of October 2025 in consideration of the teachers’ welfare.
A special discussion was held this evening – on Wednesday, 15th October 2025 at the Governor’s Secretariat with the participation of the Secretary to the Northern Provincial Ministry of Education, the Provincial Director of Education – Northern Province, the Additional Provincial Director of Education, and the Zonal Directors of Education.
During the discussion, the Governor instructed that each appeal submitted by teachers must be examined individually and appropriately decided upon by the appeal committee headed by the Provincial Director of Education.
It was also discussed that if any teacher feels that they have not received fair redress from the committee headed by the Provincial Director of Education, they may further appeal to the Provincial Public Service Commission or to the Hon. Governor himself.
