The third phase of development works of the Myliddy Harbour was inaugurated this morning (01.09.2025, Monday) by His Excellency the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, also participated in this event.
A financial allocation of 300 million rupees has been allocated for the third phase of the harbour’s development. His Excellency the President officially commenced the development activities under this allocation.
The stage events that followed began with a welcome address by the Chairman of the Fisheries Cooperative. Speeches were then delivered by the Hon. Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Marine Resources, Mr. R. Chandraseker, and His Excellency the President.
The event was also attended by Deputy Ministers Sunil Wattahala and Upali Samarasinghe, Members of Parliament M. Jegatheeswaran, K. Ilankumaran, S. Sribavanantharajah, and J. Rajeevan, along with the Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries, the Chief Secretary of the Northern Province and several heads of departments.
