The ceremony to mark the first working day of the year – 2020 was held under the patronage of Chief Secretary A.Pathinathan today (01) at the complex of the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat, Kaithady as per the Public Administration Circular 38/2019 of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
Along with the presence of Deputy Chief Secretaries – Finance, Planning, Administration, and Engineering Services, the Secretary for the Ministry of Local Government, Commissioners – Dept. of Motor Traffic, Dept. of Revenue and the all public officers of the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat and cluster and the Ministry of Local Government, assembled at 9.15 am at the front yard of the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat.
Chief Secretary A.Pathinathan hoisted the national flag and the Deputy Chief Secretary – Administration Miss.R.S.Thurairajah hoisted the provincial flag, at 9.30 am and the national anthem was played. Following the observation of two-minute silence, the oath attached to the circular was read by the public servants at 9.38 am.
Chief Secretary delivered the speech, based on the theme “Vistas of Prosperity and splendor” ensuring of integrity, dedicated and prompt services of all public servants to the public enabling to create a happy family, disciplined society and industrious and productive citizens.
The plants were planted at the complex of the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat symbolizing an effective and sustainable environment.
