Siddha day was celebrated on 9th of January – 2023 at Siddha institutions under the Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine – Northern Province.
Saint Agasthiyar is considered the father of Siddha Medicine and his birthday is celebrated every year as Siddha Day on the day of Star Ayilyam.
According to that in 2023, District Siddha Hospital – Jaffna, District Siddha Hospital – Mullaitivu, Drugs Manufacturing Unit – Achchuvely and Rural Siddha Hospital & Herbal Garden – Kalmadunagar celebrated this Siddha day devoutly.
At District Siddha Hospital – Jaffna statue of Saint Agasthiyar was placed newly and further formalities were done on this day.
Provincial Commissioner of Indigenous Medicine, Medical Superintendent of District Siddha Hospital – Jaffna, Medical Superintendent of District Siddha Hospital – Mullaitivu, Medical Officer in Charge of Drugs Manufacturing Unit – Achchuvely, Medical Officer in Charge of Rural Siddha Hospital & Herbal Garden – Kalmadunagar and Medical Officers and Staffs of these Hospitals and Drugs Manufacturing Unit participated in this programme.
