Not only veterinarians, but all sectors are continuing to provide their services amidst great difficulties,” said the Honorable Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan. He urged that these essential services, so greatly needed by the people, must continue despite the challenges.
The annual conference of the Northern Provincial Government Veterinary Officers’ Association was held on Wednesday (02.07.2025), at the Valampuri Hotel. Addressing the event as the Chief Guest, the Honorable Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, stated, “Not only veterinarians, but all sectors are continuing to provide their services amidst great difficulties.” He emphasized the importance of ensuring that these essential services, which are greatly needed by the people, continue despite the challenges.
He added, “The Northern Province has great potential for livestock production, and our farmers depend on it for their livelihood. Your work is truly invaluable. In the face of challenges and setbacks, you continue to provide exceptional service to the Northern Province. Your dedication to the welfare of livestock is commendable.”
You must approach livestock care with empathy and compassion. Jeeva Karunyam—the principle of kindness to all living beings—is a core value in all religions. One of the main challenges we often face is the timely availability of veterinary services. However, we remain hopeful that in the future, we can overcome these barriers and deliver fast, affordable, and cost-effective services to the farmers and families of the Northern Province.
Additionally, your support for vital special programs—such as stray dog control and rabies vaccination—reflects your strong commitment to public health and safety,” he added.
