The Agricultural Exhibition – 2020 was held at DATC, Vaddakachchi, Kilinochchi in grand scale from 9.00 pm to 5.00 pm with the theme of “Towards the self-reliant agriculture economic development”.
Fisheries Minister Hon.K.N Douglas Devananda was the Chief Guest on the first day of the exhibition and the Governor of the Northern Province Hon.Mrs. P.S.M Charles was the Chief Guest on the second day of the exhibition.
To encourage the public to produce non-toxic healthy vegetables and fruits themselves and to promote food self-sufficiency among family units, different sections such as organic farming, home gardening, and herb gardening were organized at this exhibition. Related leaflets and agricultural publications were also distributed at this exhibition.
Chief Secretary of Northern Province Mr.A.Pathinathan, Government Agent of Kilinochchi District Mrs.Roobavathi Ketheeswaran, Secretary of Agriculture Ministry Mr.N.Sivabalasundaran, Provincial Director of Irrigation Department Eng.V.Premkumar, Provincial Director of Animal Production & Health Department Dr.S.Vaseekaran participated as special guests in this event. Officials and staff from the government & non-government institutions, officials and staff from the private sectors, farmers, public, members of the farmers societies, members of the Women farmers societies, members of the young farmers clubs, members of the rural development societies, members of the women rural development societies, other members of the community based organisations, school students & teachers, lecturers and students from higher education institutions and well-wishers also participated at this exhibition.
