A five-member committee was appointed to examine the issue of carrying out transport services from Jaffna New Bus Station.

A five-member committee has been appointed on the recommendation of the Honorable Governor of the Northern Province, PSM Charles, to examine the issue of providing transport services from Jaffna New Bus Station to distance places. A five-member committee was appointed today (01.03.2024) under the leadership of Northern Province Chief Secretary SM Saman Bandulasena.

As per the request of the private bus owners operating from Jaffna to distant places, in a meeting held yesterday (29.02.2024), the Honorable Governor announced that a committee will be appointed to look into the issues and provide suitable solutions. A five-member committee appointed today will examine how Sri Lanka Transport Board and private buses can be engaged in long-distance services from Jaffna New Bus Station on a combined timetable. Instructions have also been given to submit the recommendations and suggestions in this matter to the Honorable Governor within a week.
