It has been announced that a Cabinet paper has been presented to resolve the issues faced by refugees from India at international airports, following a request submitted by the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, to His Excellency the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
A letter had been sent by the Northern Province Governor to His Excellency the President, which was copied to the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.
Accordingly, a Cabinet paper titled “Providing Immigration Facilities for Sri Lankan Citizens Who Voluntarily Return to the Country, Having Fled to India for Refuge Without Using Authorized Ports or Valid Passports During Wartime Situations” has been submitted. It has been communicated to the Governor by the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs that, in accordance with the Cabinet decision, consultations have been sought from the Attorney General to take further action.
