Governor visits Jaffna Cultural Building Complex

Northern Province Governor PMS Charles visited the Cultural Building Complex in Jaffna, which is being constructed by the Indian Government, on 16 January 2020.

The Mayor of Jaffna Municipal Council, the Deputy High Commissioner of India, Indian Consul General-Jaffna, the Commissioner of the Jaffna Municipal Council and the Secretary to the Governor and high ranking officials also joined.

Architects and engineers briefed the Governor on the features and facilities of the building complex.

Governor said that the building should be made available to the public very quickly and to make everyone aware of the facilities and opportunities in the building.

The Governor ordered Municipal Council to make a quick plan and forward its proposals of a long-term management mechanism for the maintenance and improvement of the building complex.

The Governor gave suggestions to the relevant officials on how to use this sophisticated cultural building complex for the development of the arts and for the development of the tourism industry.
