Norwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka May-Elin Stener met the Honorable Governor of Northern Province P.S.M. Charles today (06/05/2024). The meeting was held at the Northern Province Governor’s Secretariat.
During the meeting , few key areas including the progress of the resettlement activities carried out in the Northern Province, land clearance, demining activities, tourism development, education and about the natural energy resources were discussed.
Even though Several measures have been taken to promote tourism in the Northern Province but the number of tourist guides aren’t sufficient,the accommodation facilities are not enough and the honorable governor stated that investments are needed to improve the tourism sector.
The Hon’ble Governor also said that alternative ways should be developed for the young men and women who are not able to get the vocational education.
The Norwegian ambassador to Sri Lanka, May-Elin Stener stated that they are ready to continuously provide necessary cooperation for the development of the Northern Province and will support to carry out integrated projects.
