Chief Secretary’s Secretariat of Northern Province celebrated Sri Lanka’s 72nd National Independence Day today (04) at the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat located at Kaithady, Jaffna as per the Public Administration Circular 02/2020 of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
Secretary of the Local Government Ministry, Deputy Chief Secretaries, and the staff grade officers and officers from clusters participated in the event.
As part of the day’s celebration, the National Flag was hoisted by the Deputy Chief Secretary – Administration, meanwhile, the Provincial Flag was hoisted by Secretary – Ministry of Finance & Planning, Law & Order, Lands, Electricity, Housing & Construction, Tourism, Local Government, Provincial Administration, Rural Development, Road Development, Motor Traffic, and Transport at 8.00 a.m. and the national anthem was played at 8.05 am.
Deputy Chief Secretary – Planning Mr. R.Umakanthandelivered a speech based on “Safety Country – Prosperous Country”.
The plants were planted at the complex of the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat symbolizing an effective and sustainable environment. Deputy Chief Secretary – Finance, Deputy Chief Secretary – Personnel Training, Deputy Chief Secretary – Engineering and Commissioner of Revenue Department planted the trees.
