Today (08th March Friday), some Tamil media reported that the relatives of the Enforced Disappearances in the North and East could not meet Governor when they tried.
The explanation for the false news:
The families and the relatives of the Enforced Disappearances in the North and East asked for an appointment to meet Governor of Northern Province through Lecturer Kumaravadivel Guruparan, Law Department, Jaffna University and a journalist. But the day before yesterday, the Governor was in Colombo and could not spend the time to meet them in Jaffna. However, yesterday he came to Jaffna for the purpose and reserved the time to meet them at 9.45 am.
But at the last minute, the relatives of the Enforced Disappearances informed that they were unable to meet the Governor that day. Because of this situation, he could not hear their demands.
It should be noted that the Governor had already met the relatives of the missing persons of Jaffna District three times and paid attention to their requests. He also would like to meet the relatives of the Enforced Disappearances in the North and East to hear their demands.
