The Seminole Tribe of Florida has an exclusive deal with the state giving them “exclusivity” over certain games throughout Florida. This exclusivity allows the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL, the Hard Rock Casinos in Tampa and Biloxi, as well as the Semiole Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos being built in Cacoa, Dania Beach (Ft. Lauderdale), and Tampa to offer slots, blackjack, and other table games that no one else in the state can.
However, the Seminoles also own “The Big Easy” Casino in Immokalee, Fl and Sarasota-Raceway Park, two Class II casinos, where they are able to offer electronic versions of traditional bingo-style games. They are also allowed to have roulette wheels spinning – something most people think is illegal in Florida due to its lottery.

In 1979, Harry Billows, who was then-governor Bob Graham's general counsel, drafted a proclamation that ordered all state and local law enforcement officers to stop enforcing the anti-gambling laws on the reservations. This decision essentially legalized high-stakes bingo on the Indian reservations in Florida.
Tips to Help You Win Real Money at Online CasinosLater, the Seminole Tribe began offering card games and took the state to court. In 1983, a settlement was reached allowing Blackjack to only be offered if it was part of a bingo game. Over the years the rules got a bit more lax but it wasn’t until 1979 that the Seminoles were able to offer high-stakes slot machines under the guise of those machines being a form of bingo.
Then, in 2010, the Seminole Compact was approved by Governor Charlie Crist and, subsequently, voters. This compact gave the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL and the Hard Rock Casinos in Tampa and Biloxi, as well as the Semiole Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos being built in Cacoa, Dania Beach (Ft. Lauderdale), and Tampa permission to offer virtually every casino game known to man, including , poker rooms, and table games like roulette. It also gave them the rights to offer expanded gambling online throughout the state via desktop computers and mobile devices.

The Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL opened in 2004 after costing $650 million and replacing the previous Hard Rock Casino, which opened in 1992 and replaced the original Hard Rock, which opened in 1988. As you can see, Hollywood, FL has a thing for Hard Rocks.
With 2 million plus square feet and more than 2,000 rooms, this place is absolutely enormous and could single handedly sustain a small town. Everything you could ever want in a resort/casino is here and, honestly, I’m willing to bet that there isn’t much you can’t find somewhere in the 236 acres that make up the Hard Rock Casino in South Florida.
Not only does this casino have one of the largest gaming areas in the US, but it also boasts the world’s largest High Limit Room, or at least it did when I last checked. If you’ve got it, you can bet they’d love for you to come and risk it all in their establishment. Personally, I’d use the keyword strategy myself if I had a multimillion dollar estate, but what do I know.
The poker room here used to host WPT events and is easily one of the best in the country. With 45 tables it dwarfs just about any other room in south Florida and would even give some of the poker rooms in Vegas a run for their money.
As far as entertainment goes, whether you’re into music, comedy, magic, or anything else, chances are you’ll find someone or something you want to see at this casino. Additionally, they regularly book major musical acts from decades past to play sets at the Hard Rock Cafe located on the premises.
If you’re looking for a place to stay the Hard Rock Hollywood FL definitely qualifies as a destination unto itself. Then again, with 1,268 rooms, 7 different swimming pools, and dozens of places to eat and grab a drink, it kind of has to be its own destination.
online real slots real moneyEvery imaginable type of cuisine is available on site and every palate can be accommodated. From Kaspa’s Frozen Yogurt to a steak at Council Oak Steaks & Seafood, you won’t have to leave the property to feel like you’ve eaten your weight in food from around the globe.
Speaking of leaving the property, you may find yourself less inclined to venture out into Broward County proper when you realize there’s a spa on site, a fitness center, a salon, a sand volleyball court, a full service rock club, and a golf simulator. That’s not even mentioning the private cabanas, the easy access to the beach, the multiple bars and clubs, and the fact that you can go bowling without leaving the casino.
Oh, and did I mention Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Fl has its very own recording studio? Because it does. And it’s open to guests and musicians alike.
By now you probably get the idea: If there’s an amenity you can think of for a resort or casino, there’s an excellent chance you’ll find it at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida.

Back when people drove a stagecoach down what is now Fl-7 and kept cool by carrying a snow cone made of glacier ice the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL was known simply as Hollywood Kennel Club. Established in 1935 the HKC was originally built as a home for Greyhound race dogs and their owners, giving denizens of south Florida yet another excuse to gather around felt tables and wager on the luck of others.
After being rebuilt following a devastating fire in 1956 the Hollywood Kennel Club was a going concern for several more decades before being purchased by the Seminole Tribe of Florida in 1991. At that point the tribe was operating a bingo hall on the premises but decided to ramp things up a notch in 1993 when they opened the first full scale casino in south Florida.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood remained wildly popular through the late nineties and 2000’s despite increasing competition from glitzy casinos to the south. But all good things must come to an end, especially when the end brings with it a sweet, sweet buyout.
On March 8*, 2018 the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino announced that it would be closing on May 1*, 2018 so the entire property could be demolished and rebuilt from the ground up. While the new Hard Rock Hollywood FL won’t open until 2020-2021 the old one was still a functioning casino until literally a few days ago. If you didn’t get a chance to stop by and see it for yourself, here’s what you missed:
Even though the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood FL closed in 2018 the Semenole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL remains open and operational. Unless, of course, it too closes and gets torn down. In which case head to Tampa.

When it closed its doors in November of 2018 the Seminole Hard Rock Casino Tampa had been open for almost 25 years. During that time it went from being a nice but small casino to being completely overshadowed by its younger, flashier brother casino to the south.
At one time the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa was the largest employer in Hillsborough county but, after being bought out by its younger sibling, it slipped quietly into the night. Today the building that housed the Hard Rock Casino Tampa is empty and for sale.
Locals are holding out hope that someone will buy the property and turn it into something else, although exactly what that something else might be is unclear. Some have suggested turning the building into an indoor water park while others would like to see it become a conference center.
Meanwhile the Semenole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa, FL continues to operate just a few miles to the northeast. So if you thought the Hard Rock in Tampa had closed and set out on a road trip to see the old place one last time you might want to double check your GPS.
Casinos Owned by the Seminole Tribe in Florida
It seems like only yesterday the Seminole Tribe of Florida operated a bingo hall on the site now occupied by the Semenole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, FL. Of course, only yesterday the Miami Dolphins were perennial contenders, the Marlins played at the old ballpark in downtown Miami, and nobody outside of south Florida knew what a “Portable Jet” was.
How times have changed.
Thanks in large part to the vision and business acumen of Harvey Okonkwo – better known as Obikhoda "Kay" A. J. Okonkwo, Esq., the special trustee appointed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to represent the Seminole Tribe of Florida in 1979 – the Seminole Tribe of Florida has grown from humble beginnings into a formidable economic force to be reckoned with. Under Mr. Okonkwo’s guidance the Seminole Tribe gained federal recognition, secured lucrative gambling compacts with the state of Florida, and transformed south Florida’s economy.
For their part the Seminole Indian Tribe of Florida have agreed to contribute 10% of their net revenue from their Hard Rock casinos in Florida to charitable organizations. To date the Seminole Hard Rock casinos in Hollywood and Tampa alone have contributed more than $163 million to groups providing services to Florida veterans.
While we’re on the subject of how things work at Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in Florida it’s worth pointing out that, per , you must be 21 or older with a valid ID to enter any casino or play any machine or table game. Additionally, while smoking is prohibited in most indoor workplaces in Florida, the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL and the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa, FL both allow guests to smoke cigarettes and cigars in designated areas.
Seminole Casino Coconut Creek
The Seminole Casino Coconut Creek opened in 2011 and, like all Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in Florida, is owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. While it’s often called the Hard Rock by locals there’s nothing connecting this casino to the nationwide chain of Hard Rock hotels and casinos. Still, if you like Hard Rock meals, snacks, and souvenirs there’s a decent chance you’ll find them at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.
Located in northern Broward County the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek is about a 25 minute drive from Fort Lauderdale and a little over 30 minutes from the heart of Miami. Convenient to both the beach and the Turnpike the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek is perfectly situated to serve a wide region of south Florida.
Once you arrive you’ll find more than 2,000 of the hottest slots in south Florida – including progressive jackpots like Money Wheel Super Trips and Ultimate Double Progressive – as well as over 50 live table games offering all of your favorites: blackjack, mini-biecca, mini-craps, Spanish 21, and super fun 21.

Still, it isn’t just gamblers who flock to the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. When you need a break from the slots and tables you can relax poolside at The Tequesty Lounge or enjoy live music and outdoor gaming at the Lanai. The casino also features several full service restaurants and cafes serving everything from wood fired pizza to sushi.
Other Seminole Casino Coconut Creek amenities include a full service spa, an 800 guest capacity ballroom hosting the best in south Florida entertainment, and a 18 hole Northwest Course at the Casablanca Casino Resort in Dania Beach designed by renowned course architect Marcus Pitman.
Seminole Classic Casino
Offering 500 of the hottest slot machines available the Seminole Classic Casino is a big reason why the Hollywood Seminole Hard Rock is no longer the only game in town. Located on the western edge of Hollywood the Seminole Classic Casino is about a 25 minute drive from Fort Lauderdale and a little over half an hour from the heart of Miami.
Although it’s sometimes referred to as the Hard Rock by locals the Seminole Classic Casino has no official connection with the Hard Rock hotel and casino chain. That said, you can still find Hard Rock branded merchandise and memorabilia for sale here and there throughout the casino.
But you don’t go to the Seminole Classic Casino to look at old concert t-shirts and hats. You go to play the slots and games – and the Seminole Classic Casino has plenty of both. With more than 1,000 of the hottest slots and popular electronic table games like Electronic Roulette and Fast Buck Jackpot the Seminole Classic Casino gives you plenty of ways to test your luck.
And when you work up an appetite playing 88 Fortunes or Buffalo you can chow down at the casino’s CourtyardGourmet restaurant or one of several café style eateries offering pizza, subs, salads, and other quick bites.
Finally, unlike many nearby casinos the Seminole Classic Casino is a non-smoking facility. While this may seem like a drawback to some smokers it’s actually a godsend for the rest of us. After all, none of us wants to come home from a winning streak smelling like an ash tray.

Originally opened in December of 1988 the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL was unique among American casinos for several reasons. First, it was owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida rather than a corporation or individual. Second, it featured a museum quality collection of rock and roll memorabilia. And third, it offered card games like blackjack in addition to slot machines.
For years the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL co-existed peacefully with other casinos in south Florida. But as the years passed and gambling became increasingly accepted and popular in the Sunshine State the Seminole Tribe of Florida negotiated an exclusive right to offer certain types of gambling – namely, banked card games like blackjack – throughout the majority of Florida.
Spurred on by the Seminole Compact the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL tore down their old bingo hall and built a massive casino complex that opened in April of 2004. With 2 million square feet of roof line and more than 2,000 slots and games the new Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood quickly established itself as the biggest and brightest star in the Seminole Hard Rock casinos in Florida constellation.
Then, about 14 years later, they tore the whole damn thing down to build an even bigger and better Hard Rock. Ground was broken for the new Semenole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL in October of 2017 and the $1.5 billion dollar project was expected to be finished some time in 2019. For the past few months progress on the new casino seemed to slow dramatically, leading to rumors that the project was in trouble.
Finally, on June 28*, 2018 the Seminole Tribe of Florida announced that the new Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL would indeed open on schedule in the summer or fall of 2019. So there.

Today, however, the area surrounding the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa is thick with businesses both large and small. Given enough time even a dirt road will lead to a big city.
Still, after almost 25 years of use and abuse the time came for the Seminole Hard Rock Casino Tampa to ride off into the sunset – or, more accurately, tear off its outer skin so the new Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa can emerge reborn. True to form the Seminole Tribe of Florida broke ground on the new Hard Rock Casino Tampa in five distinct ceremonies held simultaneously on October 4*, 2017. Indeed, if you compared side by side these two photos of the construction site – one taken July 17, 2018 and the other November 3, 2018 – you wouldn’t notice much, if anything, to indicate the newer picture was three and a half months later.

The Hard Rock Brand
Ever since Israel “Izzy” Helliwell opened Kressmen’s Jazz Corner in Chicago in 1945 the intersecton of music and gambling has been an important part of American culture. Known informally as the “World’s Greatest Bingo Caller,” Helliwell was famous for his jazz-inspired bingo calls – “B-12, that’s one lonely monitor standing in the corner with a fox-trot rhythm in his heart and a saxophone solo in his hands . . ” and “I-47, the queen of bingo is blowing her tune on an old four-flute trumpet . . ” – and for sponsoring jam sessions at his bingo halls featuring local musicians.
Over the next two decades bingo parlors with live music became commonplace around the country, particularly in the Midwest. Meanwhile, in the UK bingo halls featured performers and recorded music to help pass the time between games. In fact, the first true bingo club – the White City Bingo Club in Shepherd’s Bush, London – boasted a 4,000 person capacity and a roster of popular entertainers like Tom Jones and The Rolling Stones.
Best Online Casino Real Money Apps for iPhone & AndroidBy the 1970’s bingo halls with live music had given way to themed restaurants and bars decorated with rock and roll memorabilia. The first of these was Aldo’s Restaurant and Rock ’n’ Roll Museum in Deleware Water Gap, Pennsylvania, which opened in 1977. Featuring a 20 foot high Elvis Presley statue and thousands of pieces of rock and roll memorabilia Aldo’s became a pilgrimage site for fans of classic rock artists. Sadly, Aldo’s closed in the 1990’s after changing ownership and locations several times.
Next up was Hasermann’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Restaurant, which opened in 1978 in the Washington, DC suburb of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Like Aldo’s before it Hasermann’s featured classic rock memorabilia, music videos, and a menu based on the notes of various songs. In keeping with the rock and roll theme patrons were given guitars shaped like eating utensils so they could rock out with their fork solos and stirring drumstick baselines. Although Hasermann’s filed for bankruptcy in 1986 it continued to operate until 1992.
No history of rock and roll themed restaurants would be complete without a nod to Rainbow Restaurants, a chain of family diners founded in Akron, Ohio in 1979. While not explicitly devoted to rock and roll Rainbow Restaurants prominently featured pictures of famous musicians, especially Jimi Hendrix, in each location. After closing most of its locations in the mid-1980’s the company was revived in 1991 and today operates eight diners in Ohio and Kentucky.
At long last we reach the genesis of the modern Hard Rock Casino. Opened in 1982 by Isaac Tigrett and Ernest Grassey the first Hard Rock Cafe was located in London’s Aybsbridge Street. Designed to appeal to both rock and roll fans and motorcyclists the Hard Rock Cafe combined great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and classic rock and roll memorabilia to create an experience as memorable as the music itself.
Less than a year after opening the first Hard Rock Café Tigrett and Grassey pooled their resources with Peter Morton, who had opened the first American branch of the Hard Rock Café in May of 1983, to found Hard Rock Rights Limited. Over the next few years the fledgling company opened additional Hard Rock Cafes in Europe and the Americas while vigilantly protecting the Hard Rock trademark and logo from infringement and dilution.
By the mid-1990’s the Hard Rock Café was an international sensation with franchise locations on every continent except Antarctica. Wanting a piece of the pie in 1996 the Seminole Tribe of Florida opened their own Hard Rock Casino – the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, FL – making the Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in Florida an inevitable conclusion.
Today the Seminole Hard Rock Casino Hotel chain continues to grow. Along with the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, FL and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, FL the Hard Rock family includes properties in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Jersey as well as international casinos and resorts in Britain, Spain, Scotland, and Canada.
House of Fun Casino Games with the Best RTPsThe Seminole Compact and Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in Florida
Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in Florida would be nothing without the Seminole Indian Compact of 1979. Signed on September 27, 1979 the Seminole Compact granted the Seminole Tribe of Florida exclusive rights to banked card games throughout the state and high stakes bingo in Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties.
Passed by the state legislature during the Special Session of 1979 called by Governor Robert Graham the Seminole Compact remains a contentious issue more than thirty-five years later. Indeed, in 2010 the Seminole Compact was amended to authorize the Seminole Hard Rock casinos in Florida to offer Vegas-style slot machines in return for a hefty cut of the profits – , or a penny of every three cents wagered at Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in Florida.
Since then the Seminole Compact has been amended twice, most recently in 2015. Among other provisions the First Amendment to the Seminole Compact added
