The Seminole Tribe purchased the Hard Rock Cafe trademark and licensed the café's name and rock 'n' roll décor for the casino. The Seminole Tribal Council authorized a $1.5 billion expansion of the casino on March 2, 2006. The bigger casino, designed by architecture company Nichols Brosch Wurst, was erected on the same grounds and featured a 34-story guitar-shaped hotel tower. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood celebrated its grand opening on October 1, 2008, with 38 restaurants, 20 bars and lounges, 110,000 square feet of gaming space, and 1,268 rooms and suites in the guitar-shaped tower.
