The opening ceremony of the office of Rural Infrastructure Development Project in Emerging Regions (RIDEP) funded by JICA was held on 01st January 2019. Chief Secretary of Northern Province A. Pathinathan participated in this ceremony and declared opened the office. The project office for Northern Province is located at No. 225, Main Street, Jaffna.
The Main objective of this project is to raise living standards and to develop livelihoods of local people through improvement of basic infrastructures, such as rural roads, medium, and small size irrigation and potable water supply facilities in the Northern Province.
The Project Implementation period is 5 years from 2017 and the total cost of this project is Rs. 3,200 Million. The Ministry of Provincial Council and Local Government is the Executing Agency and the Northern Provincial Council is the Implementing Agency of this Project.
Provincial Project Director of RIDEP R.Umakanthan, Deputy Provincial Project Director M.Patrick Diranjan, Senior Engineer M.Thuraisingam, Project Accountant Mr.S.Kumarakuru, Project Engineer, Environmental & Community Development Officer, Technical Officers, Account Assistants, Other staff of the Project, Director Planning F.Johnson, ADPs and Staff of the Provincial Planning Secretariat are participated in this event.
