Workshop on Family Work Balance & Parental Awareness

In today’s economic crisis, human life is facing hardships where parents are physically and mentally exhausted and stressed.

In the present situation, the understanding of family life, getting used to live by mutual compromise, sufficient knowledge related to child rearing, ability to manage family life according to income, and understanding and adapting to children’s mental state have to be faced by parents especially married in their early ages.

Every parent has to go through many types of psychological problems in their day to day life such as understanding their children’s mood etc… Moreover, they have to face social disorders/misbehaviours, alcohol and drug menaces and negative psychological impacts caused by modern technology (mobile phone, internet and other technologies). This places a tremendous mental burden on them.

To address this, an awareness workshops for parents were held on 07.12.2023 and 12.12.2023 from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. at the auditorium of the Chief Secretariat, Kaithady, Jaffna under the guidance of the Secretary of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Northern Provincial Council, Mr.P.Vageshan, and it was presided over by the Assistant Secretary of the Ministry, in which 200 field officers and 200 departmental
officers participated.

The resource persons, Dr.Kanagaratnam Sivasuthan (JMO-Chavakachcheri) and Ms. Udayakala Sivapathasundaram (Psychosocial Instructor and Student Psychology Assistant) conducted the workshops effectively. Assistant Secretaries, Chief Accountant, Administrative Officer and officials of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Northern Provincial Council, also graced this event.
