Meeting between Governor and the Representatives of Indian Tourism Sector

His Excellency Governor Suren Raghavan, who is on a two-day visit to Chennai, met the All India and Tamil Nadu representatives of the Travel Agents Association of India in Chennai this afternoon.

After 41 years, the Jaffna International Airport has been reconstructed and flight service to Chennai also has been commenced. In this situation, the discussions focused on the development of tourism in the Northern Province.

Governor requested the representatives of the Association of Travel Agents of India who are actively functioning in Sri Lanka tourism, to develop the tourism industry in the Northern Province.

The representatives said they are also focusing on identifying tourism and cultural sites and bringing tourists from Tamil Nadu and India to Jaffna through Chennai.

The Governor said that the Northern Province is ready to take necessary actions in this regard and invited a delegation to examine the matter said above to the Northern Province.
