A meeting was held between Governor of Northern Province Dr. Suren Raghavan, people in Alankulam area and the high ranking official from Kilinochchi SF Head Quarters yesterday (20) at Kilinochchi District Secretariat.
Their discussion focused on the lands of 46 owners which are used by the Army. 16 owners of 74 acres say they need their own lands and thirty owners of the 44.5 acres have agreed to receive alternative lands.
Those who have agreed for alternative lands are advised to visit and identify their respective alternative lands with the officials of Thunukkai Pradeshiya Sabha coming Wednesday (25). And those who need their own lands are advised to visit the army camp to identify their lands on Tuesday (24) after receiving proper permission. The Governor said that all these should happen within a week.
Parliamentarian Shanthi Sriskantharajah, Additional Government Agent, Provincial Land Commissioner, and the Surveyor also attended this meeting.
