Cultural Confluence of Tamil and Sinhala Artists of North and North-Center Province

Cultural Confluence of Tamil and Sinhala Artists of North and North-Center Province began on 18.03.2022 Friday at 11 a.m at Vada Ilankai Sangeetha Sabai Hall (Maruthanarmadam).  As the first event, Chief Guests and Artists were garlanded and welcomed to the stage with the auspicious instrumental music played by the students of J/ Mahajana College. Following that, the event began with the lightening of traditional Oil Lamp.

After the artists’ introduction, students performed welcome dance. Mrs. Sukunalini Vijayaratnam, Senior Cultural Officer of Jaffna District delivered the welcome address. Mrs. Rajamalligai Sivasundara Sarma, Deputy Director of Department of Cultural Affairs/ NP made presidential address. Chief Accountant & Accountant of Northern Provincial Ministry of Education, Zonal Director of Education/ Jaffna, Mr.M.Rathakrishnan also participated in this event. Cultural events such as Tamil & Sinhala dances, Folk Kathampam, Musical theatre songs, Sinhala songs, Vadamodi kooththu, dance with Raban Instrumental, Udukkai instrument sound add colours further to the occasion.

By 2.00 p.m, Chief Secretary of NP, S.M. Saman  Bandulasena honored the occasion as Chief Guest along with his Coordinating Secretary and Commissioner of Revenue Department. Chief Secretary presented the Chief Guest Address and had a discussion with Northern Provincial Deputy Director and the artists gathered there regarding the ongoing event and future plans and also enjoyed the lunch offered at the end of the event. Further, it ended happily by 3.00 p.m with vote of thanks by the Cultural Officer of Anuradhapura District while all the participants enjoyed the lunch.
