I parked my car in ample car park and made my way inside the casino via a covered walkway. It began to rain as I approached the entrance, and I was glad I’d thought to bring an umbrella with me.
Once inside, I was greeted by a smartly dressed security guard who asked to see my ID. He waved me through once he was happy I wasn’t an underage roulette player attempting to sneak past undetected.
The casino was fairly quiet during my afternoon visit, which gave me plenty of time to explore the gaming floor and speak to some of the patrons playing the slots. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and approachable, taking the time to answer my questions about the casino and the games they enjoy playing.
The overall impression I got from Rivers Casino & Resort Pittsburgh was one of quality. Everything was spotlessly clean, from the carpets to the slot machines and tables. Security seemed tight but not oppressive, and the staff members I met were polite and professional.

I didn’t witness anyone being aggressive or disruptive during my visit, and the security team dealt promptly and professionally with the one drunk I saw being led out of the casino by a friend.
My only criticism of the casino is the smoking area. All the tables and slots are in the non-smoking area, and smokers must step outside to light up a cigarette. It seems odd to me that the casino doesn’t have a section with smoking tables like almost every other gaming venue in Pennsylvania.
Anyway, that’s a minor quibble. Overall, I loved The Innovation Center and look forward to returning soon.
