Harrah's North Kansas City straddles the state line between Missouri and Kansas. Although the casino and hotel are in North Kansas City, MO - the mailing address is actually Bonner Springs, KS 66012. Regardless, it's very easy to get to from anywhere in the Kansas City metro. Just take I-35 or I-29 to the Stadium Parkway exit.
Once you park in the eight-story parking garage, you'll need to walk through the Pavilions Shopping Center to reach Harrah's. It's not a long walk, but it can be confusing if you've never been there before. Look for the signs pointing to the Casino Valet or Casino Self Parking.
Inside the casino, Harrah's North Kansas City has a smoke-free area with 350 slot machines near the entrances and a main gaming area with thousands of additional slot machines, electronic table games, and table games.
- Smoke-Free Area: All slot machines in this area are nickel, dime, quarter, or dollar denominations. There are also a few restaurants, a gift shop, and the Fun Factory arcade here too.
- Main Casino: This is where you'll find all the action at Harrah's. Denominations start at a penny here and max out at $25. There are also wide-area progressives and traditional slot machines. Plus, about 20-25 new games are added to the floor each month.
If table games are your thing, Harrah's has plenty to choose from on the second level...
- Blackjack - Limits range from $5 to $5,000
- Craps - Limits range from $5 to $1,000
- Roulette - Limits range from $5 to $100

For poker enthusiasts, head down to the lower level and enter the Hearthwoods Card Room. Cash games start at $1/$2 and sometimes go as high as $5/$10. Tournaments are much cheaper and range from $60 to $150 buy-ins. Note that poker traffic can be hit or miss, so call ahead at (816) 221-3000 for details.
If you want to spend the night, Harrah's has a 244-room hotel with standard rooms, suites, and VIP suites. All accommodations were remodeled in 2015 and come with microwaves, refrigerators, irons/boards, hair dryers, safes, and 37" LCD TVs. Higher end rooms have jetted tubs, wet bars, and seating areas. Some guests complain that Harrah's is loud due to its close proximity to I-35 and the adjacent highway. To avoid this, request a room away from the elevators and the casino entrance.
On the plus side, all guests get access to the indoor pool, hot tub, gym, gift shops, and cafes inside the connected Pavillions Mall. Then there's Ruth's Chris Steak House, Hokkaido, The Range Ultra Premium Grill, and Food Court for dining on site.
Harrah's also gets credit for hosting some awesome concerts and shows in the Mardi Gras Ballroom. Coming up in 2023, you can see Dane Cook (May 19), Frankie Valli (June 1), REO Speedwagon (Sept 21), and Lynyrd Skynyrd (Nov 4). Ticket prices start around $49.95.
Before you leave, be sure to stop at the Hearthwoods Art Gallery to admire the artwork created by regional artists. Harrah's changes out the pieces every six months or so and purchases the art outright - meaning the exhibitors get paid for their work. Pretty cool, right?
