Things barstool sportsbook could do to improve customer satisfaction

  • Barstool Sportsbook is still lacking in certain key areas that other betting apps have perfected.
  • I think they should add more niche sports to their existing list of markets.
  • Barstool could also take a page out of MyBookie’s book and offer live streaming.

As far as US sports betting apps go, Barstool Sportsbook has only been around since 2020. It was created through a partnership between the popular media company and Penn National Gaming.

I have been using the app on and off ever since it launched and overall, I would say that it gets the job done. However, there are some things that I think would make my experience much better if Barstool added them to the site.

What I want to do in this Barstool Sportsbook review is talk about a few things that they could start doing to improve customer satisfaction and maybe even attract a few more users to their platform.

If you want to know what I’m on about, then please read on.

For starters, I want to link you up with one of the top gambling apps in the US, in case Barstool doesn’t offer what you’re looking for. Everyone’s needs are different when it comes to betting apps, so you may find that BetUS is a better fit for you than Barstool.

BetUS might not have Spicy Mambo on its app, but it does have a $2,500 welcome bonus for new customers, which is pretty good too.

You can find out more about what they have to offer by reading our extensive BetUS review or you can just click the link below to sign up.

More Niche Sports Would Be Nice

  • The list of markets that Barstool covers is pretty decent. You get all the major bases covered such as the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL. They also cover soccer, Aussie Rules, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Darts, Motorsports, and plenty more.

However, I do think that there are some gaps in their market list that could be filled rather easily. The first of these is surfing. If Barstool wants to be the “people’s betting site” wouldn’t it make sense to have a market for something that lots of people like to do in America?

I did a quick search online for the amount of people surfing in the US and it’s around 38 million. That’s almost 12% of the country. Granted, not all of them are going to be bettors, but I’d wager a guess and say that plenty of them would love to have the chance to bet on pro surfing.

Right now, the only event you can bet on is the Vans World Cup of Surfing Future at Sunset Beach. This is not even close to being a pro event and is classed as a “qualifying series”.

Another sport that would work well at Barstool would be Cycling. Now, I know what you’re thinking here, cycling is usually linked to doping scandals and can put a bad taste in people’s mouths. I get that, but hear me out.

If Barstool was to cover cycling, I’d suggest that they focus purely on road racing. Again, this is an sport that is massively popular, yet there are very few markets available to punters.

There’s also very little corruption in cycling races. You can argue that about pretty much every other sport, so they won’t be alone in this regard. Why not give the people what they want, right?

One last sport I want to quickly touch on is Handball. I know a lot of Europeans that would use Barstool if they covered this sport as it’s huge where they’re from. Once again, there’s very little corruption in handball matches and there’s a lot of strategy that goes into each game, which makes betting on it quite fun.

Live Streaming Would Make Barstool Perfect

  • 🍋
  • 📺

If Barstoll wanted to become the best betting app in the US, then I feel like they need to start offering live streaming. There are so many benefits to having live streams of events within the app that it’s crazy not to do it.

Imagine being able to watch a game you’re betting on inside the same app? Not only would this save you having multiple tabs open on your phone or computer, but it would also make the experience much more enjoyable.

For example, if you’re betting on a game of basketball, you can keep an eye on the score, see if any of your bets have cashed yet, and watch the whole thing unfold without missing a second of the action.

It would also mean that you don’t need to frantically search for websites that stream sports, as everything will be under one roof. Again, less stress and less time spent hunting down shady sites on the internet.

Ways Casinos Lure Michigan Players with Promotions

Another benefit of having live streams of games is that you can track bets that aren’t even yours! I’m sure we’ve all found ourselves in this position before. One of my friends will hit me up and ask if I know where they can check the scores of a game. Most of the time, I don’t have that info to hand, but if it were to stream on Barstool, I could share my account with them, or vice versa.

In terms of betting apps that already offer live streaming, one that comes to mind right away is . In fact, they pretty much started this trend in the US, and many other apps have tried (failed) to replicate what they’ve done.

MyBookie streams a ton of sporting events throughout the year. From Soccer and Basketball to Volleyball and Tennis, there’s no shortage of content on their site. Something else worth noting is that MyBookie isn’t even one of the best paying sportsbooks. Once they sort that out, they’ll truly be unbeatable.

If Barstool Sportsbook wanted to become the number one sportsbook app in the United States, I’d definitely look to my friends down in Cost Rica for inspiration.

More Creative Promotions

  • 🏆

Promotions and bonuses are a big deal when it comes to choosing a betting app. Pretty much every site will give you some kind of welcome offer when you join, but how many of them are actually worth claiming?

Barstool’s current welcome bonus is a 100% match up to $1,000. This means that if you deposit $1,000, you’ll get another $1,000 credited to your account. However, there’s a fair bit of small print that comes with this offer.

Real Money Slots With High RTPs and Big Wins (2023)

For instance, the bonus amount is credited in the form of Bet Credits. These must be wagered just 1x before it becomes withdrawable. However, the initial deposit amount must be wagered 6x before anything can be withdrawn. Let’s say you deposit and bet $1,000 at odds of -110, you would need to place $6,000 worth of bets to meet the playthrough requirements.

Another offer that Barstool runs is Parlay Fatty. For those who don’t know, this promo gives bettors the chance to claim a refund in Bet Credits if one leg of their four-leg parlay lospers.

Again, there’s a limit of $25 in Bet Credits, and you’ll need to wager the amount 1 time before it becomes withdrawable. As promotions go, I wouldn’t say that this is bad. However, it’s not the most creative offer I’ve seen, that’s for sure.

If Barstool wanted to make their existing offers more appealing, I would lower the playthrough requirements for the welcome bonus. If BetOnline can let you withdraw the principal amount straight away, then why can’t they?

Speaking of BetOnline, they have tons of unique promos that other sites have yet to run. One of my favorites has to be the “Refer a Friend” program, where you can earn up to $100 in bonus cash for every person you refer to the site.

Another offer that I think is pretty neat is the ACCA Inspiration that runs during the Premier League season. Basetten on this, Barstool could offer boosted parlays for popular sporting events. For example, during March Madness they could offer a 10% boost on 4-leg bracket bets.

Better Odds Compared to Competitors

  • 🚦
  • 💵

This isn’t exactly something that Barstool can change overnight, but they could certainly try and offer more competitive odds. The reason why I’m putting this in the “things to improve” section is because there are times when their odds are lackluster at best.

vegas slots online real money

Now, I do want to preface this by saying that you need access to special odds and lines for certain markets. However, there are dozens of sites I can choose from for this exact reason.

Take over at GTbets, in my opinion. Allan is a well-known and loved figure in the gambling community, so having him hop over to GTbets to handle their odds compiling is a masterstroke in my eyes.

- BetRivers Online Casino Review - Slots, Games & Bonuses

Prior to working at GTbets, Sharinyi spent six years at vegasinsider.com where he ascended the ranks and became the General Manager. His experience in the industry is second to none, and it really shows in the odds and lines they offer on that site.

If Barstoo wants to compete with the likes of Wild Casino and GTbets, they’re going to need to step up their game in this area. Having Spicy Mambo on your team is great for exposure and whatnot, but does he know about negative progression and how it applies to sports betting? Because if he doesn’t, Barstool might be better off getting someone else to handle the odds side of things.

Not a member of Barstool Sportsbook yet? Well, good news, you can grab that welcome bonus I spoke about earlier by clicking the banner below. So what are you waiting for?

Barstool Could Benefit From Live Betting

  • 🏅

When it comes to the , one common theme among all of them is that they have excellent live betting platforms.

It’s 2023, there’s no excuse for having a poor in-play betting system. If your app can’t handle the demand, then perhaps you should scale back and invest in better tech. Otherwise, you run the risk of losing customers to a competitor.

Now, the Barstool Sportsbook app isn't terrible. In fact, it’s leaps and bounds better than some of the older betting sites I’ve used in the past. The issue I have with it is that it feels slow at times.

There have been numerous occasions where I’ve tried to pull up the live betting section only for nothing to happen. I’ll click on it again, and the same thing happens. At this point, I’ll close the app and try and access it via my browser. Nearly every time, it loads up fast and I can start placing bets immediately.

To avoid this, I tend to stick to betting before an event starts. However, I do think that Barstool has a lot of potential here. They cover a wide range of games that are currently live, and the odds do seem to update fairly quickly.

If they sorted out whatever issues they have with the app, I have no doubt that they would be a popular destination for in-game bettors.

A betting app that I know is lightning fast is BetUS. I think part of the reason for this is that it was made relatively recently. In comparison to some of the older sites, five years is relatively recent.

If you want to see just how good it looks, head over to their site using the banner below.

More Videogame Betting Please

  • 🕹
  • 💰
  • 🏆

Videogame tournaments generate more than $1 billion in revenue each year. With that in mind, don’t you think it’s weird that more gambling sites don’t cover them?

Yeah, I don’t get it either. Thankfully, Barstool is one of the betting apps that does offer markets for eSports tournaments. However, there could definitely be more games covered on their site.

Let’s look at the venerable Dota 2 The International tournament as an example. This is one of the biggest eSports events of the year and has a prize pool that crept close to $40 million in 2022.

If we take a look at what Barstool offered markets for during last year’s event, it’s not great. You had the Outright Winner market, which essentially means betting on which team will win the whole thing. Then you had Match Winners, where you bet on teams to beat the snot out of each other individually.

What about total kills? Total assists? First blood? Map handicap? There were none of these markets on Barstool during last year’s The International. Granted, this is one of the bigger events of the year, but even smaller ones merit more than two betting markets in my opinion.

of the Best Casinos in Maryland, U.S.A.

I’d love to see Barstool bring on an eSports expert to help run their videogame betting section. Someone like Ryan “Fwizz” Wyatt would be perfect for this role. He knows the industry inside and out and has a massive following thanks to his time at YouTube and Facebook Gaming.

Once Barstool has their videogame expert, they can start to introduce more alternative lines for popular titles such as Dota 2. I think the market response tool on BetOnline is good for this, it basically lets you see which way the wind blows in terms of public betting.

For example, if 70% of bettors are backing Team A to win the next map, the odds are going to shift towards Team B. This would encourage more people to bet on the underdog, throwing off the favoritism algorithm that many gamblers follow.

Barstool Can Learn From Others for Prop Bets

More Casinos That Got Lucky with Great Names - PokerListings

Game, set, and match on the prop bets, Barstool. I know I sound harsh, but there’s really not much to work with in this area.

Don’t get me wrong, they do have some novel bets available for certain tournaments, but nowhere near the amount you’d find at other popular betting apps.

Let’s take the US Open as an example. If we compare Barstool to BetOnline, the difference is night and day. Sure, Barstool has a “chalk up the set” market for Men’s Singles matches, but that’s about it.

BetOnline has 33 unique prop bets for the Men’s and Women’s singles matches. Some of these include Correct Score after 3 Sets, Highest Set to be 7-5, Any Tie-Break to be in the First Set, and more.

Having a good selection of novel bets gives players more ways to win. Even if they don’t fancy anyone to win the entire tournament outright, they might still think they can call the highest set in a particular match.

Another thing to note is that BetOnline released their alternate line markets well before the start of the tournament. As of writing this, the US Open is yet to begin, but I was able to find alternative tennis prop bets at BetOnline weeks prior.

Barstool do have more unique betting markets for golf, mind you. But when it comes to tennis, I think they could learn a thing or two from some of their competitors.

Barstool Should Hire More Personalities

  • 🤑
  • 🎙
  • 👀

I think it’s a smart move for a betting app to hire personalities to front their brand. Dave Portnoy is a perfect example of this, he started Barstool Sports as a blog back in 2003, and look at how far it’s come since then.

Red Slots Casinos You Can Play Online in 2023

Big Cat is another excellent addition to the brand. He’s best known for his appearance on the Wolf of Wall Street, but in the world of gambling, he’s recognized for his portrayal of a degenerate gambler who often finds himself in hot water.

However, I do think Barstool could benefit from hiring more personalities to front the business.

One person that comes to mind is Kane Patterson, also known as Cash No Questions online. I’m not sure if he would be interested in taking on an ambassador role, but he would be perfect for the job.

Why’s that? Well, he was banned from for life back in 2007 after winning over $8 million in blackjack and football betting. Since then, he’s continued his football streaking to this day, hitting on an incredible 25+ annual winners.

Then there’s Doug Polk. I know he’s signed with BetOnline, but he could always make room for Barstool too, right? Doug is arguably the greatest poker player of all time, and his poker metaphor videos are some of the best on the ‘Net.

Someone from the eSports scene that I would love to see join Barstool is DeMuslim. He got fired from his job at Roostv for calling out cheaters, then went on to expose even more. The community rallied behind him, and now he has one of the biggest YouTube channels for gaming.

These are just a couple of suggestions, but I do think Barstool could take advantage of big personalities to drive more people to their app.

Barstool Could Stand to Have More Contests

Roulette Apps with the Best Payout Rates - Try These Casinos Apps

Sticking with the idea of using big personalities to drive traffic, one thing Barststool Sportsbook could try is contests.

Back when the COVID lockdowns began, many land-based casinos were forced to shutter their doors. This left a lot of people without an outlet for their gambling habits, enter Dave Portnoy and his “Bitches!” catchphrase.

Big Cat also plays a big part in the contancies they ran back then. Essentially, they gave all users of Barstoolsports.com a fake $1,000 bet on the Barstool Fund, which was managed by Dave and Big Cat.

Any profits made from this fund would be split 50/50 between members. Some of the names on the leaderboard include CashNOQUESTION (1st – $193,106), Jtrains313 (2nd – $162,508), and FAMOUSAMANDO (3rd – $127,195). Not a bad return on that fake $1,000, huh?

Since then, we have seen other betting sites implement staking challenges of their own. One of the most notable is the “Betting Arbitrator” at BetOnline. Alton Hardin was selected for the role of providing picks each week for various sports. If you backed them all to the teas cent, you would be fully covered.

However, if you placed all your bets at BetOnline and followed Hardin’s advice to the tee, you would have made a tidy profit.

I think Barstool could bring this concept back for existing users. Perhaps they could select 100 users at random and give them a staking agreement, then pay out a lump sum to those who complete it? Food vouchers and swag are cool, but cold hard cash buys you things.

Barstool Needs More Elite VIP Program

Ways How to Win at Poker - Tips from a Pro

Last, but not least, the VIP program at Barstool leaves a lot to be desired. I know for a fact that I haven’t reached VIP status, but I would like some clarity on how one even gets there.

From what I can tell, the only way to find out about the perks of being a VIP member at Barstool is to email them. I’m all for exclusivity and secrecy, but unless you know a Barstool insider, there’s no real way of knowing what you can get.

I will say the rewards system seems decent enough. You can level up by playing more on the site and earning points. These points can be used to purchase merchandise, statement credits, and food delivery/gift cards.

20+ Casino Games Ranked by Payout from High to Low - Indivisible Gaming

However, some of the gifts you can buy with your points are a bit meh. I guess the beer mug would come in handy if you’re a huge fan, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a barstool (pun intended). And a face mask? Seriously?

I think Barstool can take some inspiration from Bovada in this area.

For starters, you know exactly what you can get when you reach Silver tier, and it’s easy to climb the rankings. All you have to do is place qualifying bets each month to stay silver, or increase your volume to reach gold or platinum.

Perks include faster deposits and withdrawals, higher deposit limits, birthday gifts, entrance into elite events, and more. I mean, they even give you a free subscription to Pornhub Premium. Who doesn’t want that?

There are many things Barstool can learn from Bovada about creating a killer VIP program. Just don’t copy their customer service…

Barstool Sportsbook – Improvement Areas Identified

So, that’s my Barstool Sportsbook review. Overall, it’s a solid app, but there are several areas that need improvement. Some of the ones I mentioned above are easier fixes than others, but hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I think to really challenge the likes of Wild Casino and GTbets, Barstool needs to add more sports and alternative wagers to existing markets. The former will help appeal to a wider audience, while the latter gives more options to bettors who might have otherwise taken their action elsewhere.

Additionally, I think it would be a smart move for Barstool to lower their rollover requirement for the welcome bonus. If BetOnline can allow you to withdraw the principal amount straight away, there’s no reason why Barstool can’t do the same.
