The officials of Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) had a discussion with the Chief Secretary Mr. A.Pathinathan on 25th February 2015 at Chief Secretary’s Secretariat with regarding their future initiatives and programmes on “Improving active participation in the local government to build public accountability and transparency” which will be initiated into the local authorities of the Northern Province.
A discussion on preparation of annual appropriation accounts was held on 19th February 2015 at the auditorium of Jaffna Public Library under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary of Northern Province A.Paththinathan. Asst. Audit General of Northern Province G.Thevagnanan was also present at this discussion.
A Special Coordinating Meeting for Northern Province was held with presence of Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, Local Government and Democratic Governance, Karu Jayasuriya on 16th February 2015 in the auditorium of Jaffna Public Library.
The World Bank along with Operations and Monitoring Support Unit (OMSU) for the Transforming the School Education System as the Foundation of a Knowledge Hub Project (TSEP) visited to the Northern Province to review the project progress from 12th and 13th February 2015.
Mr.A.Pathinathan assumed office on 02nd February 2015 at Chief Secretary’s Secretariat. He is a special grade officer of Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS). Previously he worked as Government Agent of Monaragala district and now has been appointed as Chief Secretary of Northern Province.
In view of Public Administration circular No. 28/2014, today the Northern Provincial Council commenced its administrative functions on the 1st working day of the year 2015 by organizing a special programme with the participation of all government officials for emphasizing the necessity of inculcating and attitudinal change in all public servants for committing to transform Sri Lanka as an emerging economy in Asia.
