Overall Management of the Northern Province.
A group of social activists belonging Tamil Diaspora visited Governor’s Secretariat in Jaffna to meet Governor Reginald Cooray. They had discussions with him.
They, who came to visit their homeland Sri Lanka from their exiled countries such as France, Canada, German, London and Australia, had discussions with the Governor regarding the prevailing political, social economic development.
Particularly they got to know about the government’s efforts and activities to control the narcotic drug usage, violent culture aroused in Northern Province and the solutions to the Tamil people in the country.
A detailed video presentation on development activities carried out by Government in the post war era and future development plans was screened to the diaspora to the gatherings.
They also asked the Governor about the means to increase the support of the Tamil diaspora in development projects of Northern Province in future. The Governor also said that he would be ready to give fullest support to such attempts
He also said that the Tamil people who live here suffer mentally and economically due to the war scars. Tamil diaspora should take constructive steps to uplift their living condition. Employers, entrepreneurs and philanthropists should come forward to create jobs in the Northern Province for the youth who are unemployed.
Secretary to the Governor L.Ilaangovan, Coordinating Secretary S.Divagalala, Provincial Councilors Agiladas Sivakolunthu, Presidential Coordinator for North and East S.S.Kuganathan, The Chairman of Friends’ Foundation K.Sevvel, The Director of North Lanka Institute P.Gopalakrishan, The President of Jaffna Lion’s Club and many others participated in this meeting.
