The 62nd National Day celebrations were held on 04th February 2010 in the NPC complex under the chairmanship of Mr.A.Sivaswamy, Chief Secretary, NPC. The National flag and the Provincial flag were hoisted by the Chief Secretary and Secretary to the Governor respectively at 8.50 a.m followed by the National anthem.
The message of Hon.Governor, Northern Province Major General G.A.Chandrasiri was read by the Chief Secretary.
The Chief Secretary in his address emphasized the need for all Public officials serving under the Northern Provincial Council to discharge their duties with devotion, dedication and responsibility for the people of north. He requested all Ministries and Departments to follow the “5S” Japanese methodology starting from today onwards.
Officers gathered at the celebration watched the live telecast of His Excellency’s National Day address to the Nation from Kandy.
